Hi, my love!
Pray your week is going awesome!
So last week I posted on my Instagram that I’ve been doing a deep dive Bible study in Proverbs 31 and some of you were interested in knowing some of my findings.
Although I haven’t completed the entire epilogue yet (hey, I said it was a deep dive remember lol) there were a few things that stuck out to me the most and gave me a ton of revelation.
Here are my summarized findings:
-
This epilogue is about a Proverbs 31 wife, not woman. Her role as a wife was highlighted first.
-
Understanding the character of the Proverbs 31 wife is more important than simply copying what she does. When you channel her character and understand her mindsets and motives behind what she does, you’re more likely to transform from the inside out.
-
The Proverbs 31 wife was a fictional character. Yes. She wasn’t a real person lol She was a template from King Lemuel’s mother to guide King Lemuel in finding a wife. So, in a big way, the Proverbs 31 wife is a teaching tool for men not necessarily a standard of perfection Christian women must meet.
-
With that understanding, the Proverbs 31 wife was able to juggle ALL her responsibilities WITHOUT leaving her family and home life undone. She did not abandon her marriage or family to go and seek other ventures.
With that being said, I think it’s important for us to not overemphasize any particular part of the Proverbs 31 wife’s world and have a holistic view.
My biggest question from this study was how can one woman do it all with no help? Especially in 2024? It’s very difficult but not impossible.
Here’s my opinion based on my findings:
-
Outsource and hire help if and when you can
-
Keep your home and family as the top priority and other ventures second
-
Marry hypergamously and rest in a husband’s financial provision
You see when you as a woman do not have to carry the brunt of the financial responsibility, it gives you a lot of flexibility for other supplementary endeavors.
When you marry hypergamously, all the things the Proverbs 31 wife did seem more feasible as a SAHM (stay-at-home mom).
But perhaps you think living the hypergamous life is not for you or that you’re ill-equipped to marry men who are providers.
I got you!
On Monday, January 15 at 12 PM PST/3 PM EST/8 PM GMT, I’ll be hosting a webinar:
